Third Pastry ❥ special valentine's day video

[The camera feed clicks on to Jane, Tenten, and a Bisharp. Jane looks awfully cheerful, as does Tenten. They finally got to meet up and as promised- Jane is teaching Tenten how to make chocolate. Sure the gifts would be a little late, BUT WHATEVER.]

Happy Valentine's day to everyone out there!

[Tenten’s not been the most successful one in the kitchen. Her fingers and forearms are coated in chocolate (how is a mystery for the ages), and there’s what’s probably cocoa powder smeared on her nose and cheeks (another mystery).]

Yeah, Happy Valentine’s Day! I guess? [Really she’s not all that sure why she’s on video for this other than to brag about their chocolate-making attempts?? Jane could totally have handled this part on her own.]

[Through convincing and flattery they have gotten Dart (the Bisharp) to wear an apron and help them out- so that probably looks pretty funny. Jane is pretty sure she explained to Tenten why they had to get on camera for this one, but it doesn’t matter. THEY NEEDED TO SAY HI TO THEIR KANTO FRIENDS SOMEHOW.]

We’ve actually made quite a lot and have some extras. So we highly encourage that you get in contact with us about getting some before we run out. [She holds up the tray, LOOK AT THESE. They are definitely heart shaped and knife shaped chocolates. Can you tell who made what. I bet you can’t.]

Some of you guys need to keep an eye out for a Pokémon headed your way. I already attached a couple boxes to them and sent them out, but since we only got them done today, it’s gonna be a little late. If you got a message from me, you know you’re getting something, I guess?

[Wow way to be exclusionary Tenten. Amazing.]

Anyone else can just ask. [And she glances toward Jane because hey, the other girl is the one who made sure the chocolates actually looked like what they’re supposed to be shaped like and that they won’t have a poison filling. And that they’ll taste good on top of all that.]

[Jane goes to end the feed, that is until one of those goo-like Pokemon just, falls in front of the camera. Jane nearly shrieks at the sight, taking a step back and observing the little goo pile looking back up at her. More at Jane’s shriek than at the sight of the Pokémon itself, Tenten grabs the closest weapon-like thing she can find -- a cooking spoon left to rest in one of the bowls from mixing the chocolate -- and points it at the little blob. Splattering chocolate on it and the camera in the process.]

[She's literally leaning on the counter with her chin in her hands listening to this. Wow John, maybe it's disgustingly sappy but it's still really cute. And maybe she's jealous but you know what who cares about that this is about John being happy.

Both eyebrows quirk way up at the special massage, then she bursts out laughing, covering her mouth with one hand to try to hide her blush.]

Uh-huh, [she teases, not about to let it go until he's as embarrassed as she is.] Sure that's what you're gonna do. I don't know if the roof is the right place for that, though.

No I swear, it really is just a massage. And jeez, give me some credit! That was obviously going to come after the roof part.

[DUH.]

Uh-huh....

[Nope, doesn't believe you. But that's less important because--]

What's her present? What'd you get her? You've got to tell me.

I didn't get her anything. I made her something instead! Well...in a way, at least. It's a date jar! I got a bunch of popsicle sticks and painted them different colors. And then wrote date ideas on each one, depending on what color the stick was. Red are dates that take lots of time and planning, and typically involve traveling. Like going on a cruise again or going to the hot springs in Blackthorn. Pink sticks are dates that take some time and planning but are more localized. Stuff like going to see the Kimono Girls or going out for karaoke or something. And finally, white sticks are stay at home dates. Which...I think speak for themselves.

[They are basically exactly what it says on the tin.]

So she gets to pick our dates until she runs out of sticks! I put a few wild card ones in there too. Like for her to pick what we do, essentially a blank stick aside from the color type.

[Wow that is so cute. And really dorky but more importantly,] That's a great idea! I bet she'll love it, she's really lucky to have someone like you.

[Is she bitter? She's... surprisingly not, actually. She's actually really okay with that, because it's John, and if anyone deserves to be happy it's John Egbert.]

One of your dates has got to be to come visit the rest of us, though.

I hope she will! I mean it was fairly easy to put together but it took me a while to come up with some really good date ideas. I've actually been working on this thing since before Christmas...

And hey, once you guys leave Violet, I am all for visiting.

[But not in Violet. Just...no........]

[Seriously? But more importantly, her whole face scrunches up in confusion and a bit of annoyance.]

What's wrong with Violet? Besides the part where all the Pokémon are really weak.

Well it's not like I was working on it constantly for two months! I mean I made her Christmas present too. I just thought it would be better to gradually come up with ideas as opposed to trying to come up with a whole bunch last minute. It was a gradual thing, I just kinda wrote date ideas down as they came to me to be sure I had a decent amount of them by the time February rolled around.

Violet is the worst. I was stuck there for months when I first got here because everybody kept fucking disappearing and coming back every other week. Like...every time we got about ready to leave, we'd be thwarted at the last minute because we had to wait for somebody else or somebody fell into a coma and the whole thing was just a mess. And on top of that there's...nothing really to do in violet. After about a week, you've seen it all and you just want to get the hell out because the music starts driving you crazy and I am convinced that Violet is not actually a city at all but some kind of void where happiness goes to die and boredom reigns supreme and Violet City is basically just the worst. That's really all that needs to be said on the matter.

[Jesus Christ, John, breathe. You're doing that thing where you start ranting and forget to breathe. Also you sound like a loon.]

[She can't help it. She starts laughing at him. Because wow that's an extreme reaction holy shit.]

John! [She can't answer at first, she's too busy clasping both hands over her mouth to try to stifle giggles (and probably earning a look from Jane in the process).] You sound just like Naruto, hahaha!

[Must be a protag thing.]

Anyway, I've actually been having a lot of fun here, even if the city itself is no Goldenrod. I mean, it's me and Jane mostly, but I've been fighting Dave and Jade is really cool too. [She lowers her voice and leans closer to the camera as she adds,] Even if I'm kind of afraid something's going to get eaten by her hair someday...

[Ask Riku about it sometime, it's definitely not just a protag thing.]

Pfftt, I don't blame you! I wouldn't be surprised to learn one day that Jade's hair is sentient. How's fighting with Dave going? Please tell me you kicked his ass.

[She laughs again and stays in close with her voice lowered. You know, because she doesn't want to end up saying something too complimentary where Dave can hear.]

I kicked his ass a few times, yeah! But not as often as I'd like. I've said before he's a really good fighter, so I've had to adapt some of my techniques.

[And she looks absolutely thrilled about that. GROWING AND LEARNING AS A FIGHTER GAI-SENSEI WOULD BE SO PROUD.]

That's a good thing though, right? Not that you lost to him but at least you're coming up with new strategies and expanding your horizons and all that crap.

Yeah, all that important crap that helps you stay alive as a ninja.

[She's laughing though.]

Sometime you and me and Dave will have to go after each other. A last-man-standing Battle Royale or something. It'd be fun!

Haha, maybe. Though if it's going to be a proper Battle Royale, I almost feel like we should invite some other people, you know? Like Rose and Jade and Naruto, at least.

...Jake would probably be all over something like that, now that I think about it.

[Boy is ALL ABOUT scrums and whatnot, after all.]

Yeah, definitely! And Dirk and-- I think it'd be unfair if I asked the Fourth to come. He's kind of a lot stronger than everyone.

[Can't invite the Hokage to the kids' battle.]

I talked to Jake once or twice. Can he fight?

Uh...well he's always talking about wrestling and stuff so I assume so? Never actually fought him though.

[But surely if he can fight and Jade can fight and Jane can fight...]

We'll both have to, then. Fight him, I mean. And by the time we have this, I'll have Jane up to fighting speed, too!

Hehe, excellent. Sounds like it'll be interesting whenever this battle royale finally does happen.

Yeah! But for now, I guess I should let you get back to your preparations for your thing with Rose, right?

Ah, right! Yeah I really should go...wash up. [He's covered in slightly less Bloober goo than yesterday, but still kind of more Bloober goo than is strictly necessary..] I'll talk to you later Tenten!
